About When To Book
How a family ski trip — and one conversation — became a price intelligence tool.
Skiing is everything to me. I try to go every year, and I could not wait for my daughter to turn four so we could take her for her first proper trip. But planning a ski holiday with a young child is a different beast entirely. How close is the accommodation to ski school? Will there be food she'll actually eat? And — honestly — how much is all of this going to cost?
My partner cut through the noise: just book Club Med. And boy, was she right. We went to Club Med La Plagne and had the absolute time of our lives. It couldn't have been more perfect.
When we got home, I kept thinking about a conversation I'd had with another guest on that trip.
They had enjoyed the exact same resort, the exact same week — for £1,600 less than we paid.
Not because they'd found a code or a scheme. Because of when they'd booked.Club Med was worth every penny — it genuinely is a priceless experience. But that conversation stuck with me. Wouldn't it be useful to know, before you commit, whether you're booking at the right moment? Which weeks tend to sell out early and go up in price as they do? Which weeks are quieter, and might move in your favour if you wait a little longer?
That question became When To Book.
This is not a price comparison site. There are no voucher codes here, no cashback schemes. It is a timing tool — somewhere you can find out whether the data suggests getting in there now, or whether conditions are likely to become more favourable before the booking window closes.
