Easter 2027 Ski Holidays: The School Holiday Without the Premium
By Connor Martin · Published 23 Sep 2026 · For today's prices see our Club Med and Mark Warner pages.
Easter is usually the forgotten ski holiday. Families default to February half-term because it is the obvious winter break, then wince at the price. In 2027 that is a mistake worth avoiding: Easter is early, the snow is usually still good at altitude, and our price checks show it is the one school holiday that does not carry a premium.
The short answer: at Club Med’s French Alps resorts, the first Easter week of 2027 (departing 27/28 March) cost a family of four a median of 32% less than February half-term, about £3,900 less. It was even cheaper than the lowest-priced term-time week in mid-March at all 11 resorts. If you can ski at Easter rather than half-term, it is the single biggest price lever in the school calendar.
Easter 2027 dates
Easter Sunday falls on 28 March 2027, which is early. For most schools in England:
- Schools break up on Thursday 25 March (Good Friday is 26 March).
- Week 1 departs Saturday 27 or Sunday 28 March.
- Week 2 departs Saturday 3 or Sunday 4 April.
- Schools return around Monday 12 April.
Wales breaks a week earlier (22 March to 2 April), and many Scottish schools later (around 5 to 16 April), so check your own school before you book.
Why Easter 2027 costs less
Ski prices follow demand, and demand in the Alps is driven as much by French families as British ones. France’s spring school holidays start on 3 April 2027 for the Paris zone and run to early May for the others. That means the first English Easter week falls before any French zone is on holiday, and the second overlaps only one.
The result is that Easter 2027 is priced like a spring shoulder week, not a school holiday.
Easter vs half-term vs mid-March: the prices

|---|---|---|---|---|
| La Plagne 2100 | £9,784 | £7,206 | £7,101 | £6,724 |
| La Rosière | £11,336 | £7,632 | £7,260 | £6,958 |

The headline numbers:
- Easter week 1 vs February half-term: a median 32% less, about £3,900 for a family. At Val d’Isère the difference was over £12,000.
- Easter week 1 vs mid-March (term time): lower at all 11 resorts, by a median of about £570.
- Easter week 2 was lower again at 8 of the 9 resorts still open.
Couples see the same pattern: for two adults, the first Easter week was a median 9% below the lowest mid-March week.
What about the snow?
This is the honest catch. Late-season skiing is different:
- The good: longer days, more sunshine, quieter slopes before the French spring holidays begin, and usually the deepest snowpack of the season at altitude.
- The less good: snow goes soft and heavy in the afternoons, and lower slopes can thin out, especially in a warm spring.
Because Easter 2027 is early, both weeks fall in late March and early April rather than mid-April, which helps. Altitude still matters most. The highest resorts we track are Val Thorens (2,300m), Tignes and La Plagne 2100 (both 2,100m), with Val d’Isère close behind. Tignes and Val d’Isère share the Espace Killy, with glacier skiing on the Grande Motte above Tignes.
Which resorts are open for the second week?
The season end dates we see in Club Med’s booking calendar:
| Last departure | Resorts |
|---|---|
| 27/28 March | Grand Massif, Valmorel |
| 3/4 April | Serre-Chevalier |
| 11 April | Alpe d’Huez, La Plagne 2100, La Rosière, Peisey-Vallandry |
| 18 April | Les Arcs |
| 25 April | Tignes, Val d’Isère, Val Thorens |
So if you want the second Easter week, Grand Massif and Valmorel are already out. For Scottish families whose holidays start in April, the late-closing high resorts are the ones to look at.
Getting there at Easter
Eurostar’s ski train does not run at Easter in 2027: the last outbound train is on 20 February. Plan on flying to Geneva, Lyon, Chambéry or Grenoble. Easter weekend flights get busy, so price them at the same time as the resort.
When to book Easter
Easter prices at most resorts have been steady since we started tracking in the spring, which suggests less pressure than on the festive and half-term weeks. That gives you time to compare, but it does not mean prices will fall, and family rooms at the most popular resorts will go first.
A practical plan:
- Decide between half-term and Easter now. The difference is big enough to change the whole trip.
- If Easter, shortlist resorts by altitude and by whether you need week 1 or week 2.
- Watch your shortlist on our school holidays page and sign up for an alert if you want us to tell you when your week moves.

Questions families ask
When are the Easter school holidays in 2027?
Easter Sunday is 28 March 2027. Most schools in England break up on Thursday 25 March and return around Monday 12 April, so the two ski weeks depart on 27/28 March and 3/4 April. Welsh schools break earlier (22 March to 2 April) and many Scottish schools later (about 5 to 16 April).
Is Easter a good time to go skiing?
Easter 2027 is early, which helps. Late March usually still has a deep snowpack at higher resorts, with longer, sunnier days. The trade-off is softer, slushier snow in the afternoons and less reliable cover at low altitude, so a high resort is the safer choice.
How much does a Club Med Easter ski holiday cost compared with February half-term?
In our September 2026 checks, the first Easter week (from 28 March 2027) cost a family of four a median of 32% less than February half-term at the same resort, about £3,900 less. It was also cheaper than the lowest-priced week in mid-March at all 11 resorts.
Which Club Med ski resorts are open over Easter 2027?
All 11 Club Med French Alps resorts we track had departures on 27/28 March. For the second Easter week (3/4 April), Grand Massif and Valmorel had closed for the season. Tignes, Val d'Isère and Val Thorens run latest, to the end of April.
